Transfer of autologous fat to other parts of the body

Transfer of autologous fat to other parts of the body

This operation has a dual effect. The primary aim is to reshape the selected area of the body with the patient's own fat or to increase the volume. At the same time, however, fat is also removed from areas where a reduction in the amount of fat is desired. Liposuction with the BODY-JET device is less painful and ensures the extraction of a large number of viable fat cells suitable for transfer to another area. We are one of the few facilities that perform this procedure under local anesthesia, which significantly shortens the duration of the procedure and recovery time and does not require an additional stay at GIA clinic.

The Procedure Involves Two Steps:

  1. Liposuction Using a Body-Jet: The fat is gently separated from the surrounding tissue by a water jet and immediately suctioned into a lipo-collector, where it is separated from the infiltration solution and oil components.
  2. Transfer of Autologous Fat to the Breast: The harvested fat is injected into the breast using a thin cannula. In cases where the highest precision is needed during fat application, we work with ultrasound imaging guidance.
Natural look and feel: The patient's own fat is used, resulting in a natural look without the fear of allergic reactions that sometimes occur with synthetic fillings.
Double effect: not only the shape and volume of the target area are improved, but also the contours and fat layers in the are where fat was removed.
Minimal risk of rejection: Because the patient's fat is used, the risk of rejection or allergic reaction is minimal, and the fat tends to fuse well and grow together with the surrounding tissue.

The main advantages of this method

– Maximum patient friendliness

– Rapid healing and subsequent convalescence

– Less physical strain on the surgeon, who can concentrate on the aesthetic aspect of the procedure

– The liposuctioned fat cells are only minimally damaged and can be processed further

The last-mentioned advantage of liposuction seems crucial for the successful outcome of the subsequent procedure, lipotransfer. The fat cells are only minimally damaged by the Body-Jet liposuction device, which greatly increases their chance of survival when transplanted to another part of the body. Before the transfer, the fat is purified so that only the highest quality material is used for further treatment. The fat is then injected into the desired area using a thin cannula.

Lipografting

Lipografting requires precision, contributing to a longer operation duration. The outcome is generally permanent or long-lasting, as the transferred fat integrates seamlessly with the tissue into which it is placed. The fat is injected in small, non-touching clusters. These individual fat deposits are surrounded by the native tissue, which nourishes the new fat cells with oxygen and nutrients until the entire area is integrated with new blood vessels. Temporary bruising or swelling may appear at the transfer site.

The procedure is commonly used for augmentation purposes but can also be applied to correct asymmetries. Fat is most often harvested from areas such as the thighs or abdominal region. During the initial three months post-procedure, up to 30% of the transferred fat may be absorbed by the body, with the remaining portion becoming a permanent addition to the area.

Nano fat grafting

This special technique, sometimes referred to as micro fat grafting, is based on the method mentioned above. However, the fat to be transferred to the new site is further modified so that it consists of very small fat particles. The fat is then injected in layers. This method is used with particular success in the treatment of wrinkles, the temple area, dark circles under the eyes, etc. This technique makes it possible to replace even larger areas of fat loss and target them precisely.

Use of lipotransfer by location

Face

The procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia. The following areas of the face are most commonly treated:

– lips, which gain fullness and freshness as a result of the procedure

– Deep wrinkles and sunken scars that need to be filled in to smooth and even out the skin

– Cheekbones that previously required implants due to fat loss

– Chin

– Area of the temples

– Nasolabial folds

– The eye area, where the correction of sunken eyes and dark circles or upper eyelids sunken under the edge of the eye socket can be performed

Hands

Our hands are exposed to many tasks every day that dry out, rub or otherwise stress the skin. The wear and tear on the skin of the hands can therefore be considerable. And since the hands also serve as a means of communication and naturally attract attention, we need to look after them properly so that they harmonize with our overall appearance. The backs of the hands in particular show signs of ageing. Tendons begin to show, bones become prominent and the skin becomes thinner and scabby. Your own fat can turn back the appearance of your hands by several years. The skin gains volume, tightens and the bones and tendons are covered more smoothly.

The intimate area of women

Women who visit a plastic surgeon to improve the appearance of their labia majora can be reassured that this is a very popular procedure. Fat loss in these areas is the result of major weight loss or advancing age. Both manifest themselves in sagging and wrinkling of the skin. The transfer of autologous fat from a selected area of the body solves this problem and replenishes the lost volume.

Advice for patients

As the procedure is performed in two stages, the first of which is liposuction, the same recommendations apply here as for liposuction.

Before the procedure, the patient undergoes the usual pre-operative examinations. The requirements for the examinations depend on the age of the person undergoing surgery. The basic examinations include ECG, lung X-ray, laboratory tests and some others. Interested patients will receive precise instructions from the doctor conducting the consultation.

The interval between the last infectious disease and surgery must be at least 2 – 3 months.

It is necessary to discontinue all medications that cause increased bleeding. Two months before the operation, it is advisable to stop taking contraceptive pills as they increase the risk of embolism. You should not drink alcohol the day before the procedure. Do not smoke for at least one month before the procedure and for at least two weeks after the procedure. Smoking impairs healing. Do not eat or drink anything 6 hours before the procedure. On the day of the operation, it is advisable to take a bath, not to apply make-up and not to paint your fingernails and toenails.

After a major operation, a one-day stay in a medical facility is required. There may be a slight stinging pain, which can be relieved with painkillers for 2-3 days at home. Physical activity is strictly limited for the first 14 days to avoid sudden bleeding and traction on the scar. A return to work is recommended after 7 to 14 days. Temporary changes in skin sensitivity or asymmetry may occur due to the unabsorbed fluid injected into the body during the procedure.

Contraindications

The contraindications for the procedure are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart and lung diseases, bleeding, tendency to embolisms, treatment of carcinoma, active herpes, etc.

Price of the procedure

The specific price depends on the complexity of the procedure and will be determined during the consultation.

Mutual trust is a priority for us, which is why we endeavour to offer not only high-quality treatment, but also transparent information about prices.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take until I see results?
The results are often visible immediately, but the final effect only becomes apparent after complete healing, which can take several weeks to months.
Pain during the procedure is minimal thanks to anesthesia. A slight discomfort may occur after the procedure, which can be controlled with painkillers.
Recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure, but patients can usually return to their normal activities within a few days to weeks.
Risks include bruising, swelling, infection or irregularity of shape. However, the frequency of complications is low.
