Liposuction of the abdomen and hips

Liposuction of the abdomen and hips.

Liposuction is a medical aesthetic procedure in which fat is suctioned from areas where it has accumulated undesirably. The method primarily serves to improve body contours and shape, not for weight loss. At our clinic, we can remove fat very gently using the BODY-JET device, which utilizes a water jet to separate fat cells. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia without the need for an overnight stay at the clinic. If the procedure is done under general anesthesia, the client must stay at the clinic until the next day. The procedure takes about 2 hours with minimal risk to the patient, and the healing time is shorter compared to other liposuction methods. Both women and men commonly undergo the procedure.

Liposuction yields the best results for individuals with a moderate weight who need to address fat accumulation in areas where neither exercise nor diet is effective. The natural firmness and elasticity of the skin play a significant role in how the suctioned area will appear after the procedure. If the skin has significantly lost its elasticity, it is advisable to undergo skin tightening with argon plasma during the operation to achieve the best possible appearance.

Effective Body Shaping: Liposuction helps eliminate unwanted fat in the abdominal and hip areas, ensuring better contours and proportions of the body.
Minimal Invasiveness: Thanks to the use of BODY-JET technology, the procedure is less invasive than traditional liposuction, resulting in lower risks and a shorter healing time.
Immediate Results: Unlike weight loss through diet and exercise, liposuction provides immediate and noticeable results in improving the shape and size of the treated area.

How does the procedure work?

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the nature of the area being treated. For each suctioned area, approximately three incisions of about 4 to 5 mm in length are made. The incision sites are chosen to be as inconspicuous as possible after healing. Typically, they are placed in natural skin folds or areas that will be covered by underwear. A two-way cannula with a blunt tip is inserted into the created openings, which delivers a stream of water that gently separates fat cells from the tissue. At the same time, the cannula is connected to a pump that creates a vacuum, allowing the released fat to be suctioned into collection containers. Because the fat cells are removed gently, they are suitable for further use in areas where volume enhancement is desired, known as fat transfer.

To ensure the most even fat removal, the doctor shapes the selected area with fan-shaped movements. Immediately after the procedure, the operated areas are compressed with elastic sleeves. The results of the surgery are assessed at least three months post-operation, when any swelling has subsided. The final results can be expected within 6 to 12 months.

Abdomen

Perhaps the most commonly treated area. As we age, the body tends to store more fat, especially in the abdominal area. Genetics plays a significant role, and in women, body changes during pregnancy can persist even after childbirth. The fat that we need to eliminate is located in the subcutaneous layer on the abdominal muscle wall. Liposuction can effectively contour the abdominal wall.

However, liposuction cannot correct a protruding belly caused by a weakened abdominal wall. To address separated muscles and remove excess fat and skin, we opt for a surgical procedure called abdominoplasty.

To ensure that the effects achieved through liposuction remain permanent, discuss your dietary habits and types of exercises with your doctor that can prevent further fat accumulation.

Hips

Nice proportions and contours of the hips not only enhance the overall appearance of the figure but also visually highlight the outlines of the buttocks, giving them a more defined and rounded shape. Slimming the hips also results in a more prominent appearance of the breasts, which may look larger as a result. Unfortunately, the hips also tend to accumulate fat that is quite resistant to diets and exercise. In these cases, liposuction is the most reliable method to achieve the slimmer hips you desire.

Advice for the patient

Before the procedure, the patient undergoes standard preoperative examinations. The requirements for these examinations depend on the age of the patient. Basic assessments typically include an EKG, chest X-ray, laboratory tests, and others. The specific instructions will be provided by the doctor during the consultation. A minimum of 2-3 months must pass since the last infectious disease.

It is essential to stop taking all medications that can increase bleeding risk. Two months before the procedure, it is advisable to discontinue contraceptives that can increase the risk of embolism by up to four times. Alcohol should not be consumed the day before the procedure.

Patients should refrain from smoking at least one month prior to surgery and for at least two weeks afterward, as smoking can impair healing. Patients must not eat or drink anything for at least 6 hours before the operation.

On the day of the operation, it is advisable to take a shower, avoid makeup, and remove nail polish from both hands and feet.

After larger surgeries, a one-day stay in a healthcare facility is necessary. Patients may experience mild stinging pain, which can be alleviated with analgesics at home for 2-3 days.

During the first 14 days, there should be strict limitations on physical activity to avoid unexpected bleeding and tension on the scars. Returning to work is generally recommended after 7-14 days.

Transient sensitivity of the skin or asymmetry may occur due to residual fluid introduced into the body during the procedure.

Contraindications for the Procedure

It depends on the specific illness and the overall health status.
The main contraindications include: acute or chronic infections, cold sores, autoimmune diseases, severe allergic conditions, acute phase of malignant disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding in women, and other serious illnesses identified during the consultation with the client who is interested in the procedure.
