Eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is one of the most frequently requested procedures in plastic surgery. It is primarily aimed at reducing sagging skin on the upper and lower eyelids and removing fat deposits. The upper and lower eyelids can be operated on individually or together. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, the procedure also has a therapeutic effect, as it removes the pressure of drooping upper eyelids on the eyes, which is often the cause of increased eye fatigue and pain. In addition, persistent migraines can be caused by eye pain. Patients also often appreciate the improvement in peripheral vision after the procedure.

Improved vision and widened field of vision: For patients with drooping upper eyelids, surgery can remove the pressure on the eyes and widen the field of vision, improving overall vision.
Aesthetic improvement: The procedure removes excess skin and protruding fat deposits that lead to pronounced bags under the eyes. The procedure rejuvenates the appearance of the eye area.
Minimalize wrinkles and eliminate the “tired” look: The procedure not only improves the contours of the eyelids, but can also partially smooth out wrinkles around the eyes. The face is given a fresh and rested appearance.

Upper eyelid surgery

GIA clinic offers an enhancement of the appearance of the upper eyelids by removing excess upper eyelid skin. Additionally, fat deposits can be removed, and, if necessary, the outer corner of the eye can be tightened or repositioned. This method is the most popular, as it relieves clients from the burden of droopy eyelids and fat protrusion.

Lower eyelid surgery

During lower eyelid surgery, we remove excess skin in the lower eyelid area and complement the procedure by removing fat pads in this region. Additionally, we partially smooth the wrinkles around the eyes and, if necessary, tighten the circular eye muscle or strengthen the ligaments at the corner of the eye. This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis at the GIA clinic, and at the patient’s request, it can also be carried out under analgosedation (a type of light sedation). After undergoing surgery with analgosedation, patients can leave the clinic after 2 hours. For surgeries performed under general anesthesia, an overnight stay at the GIA clinic is required.

Lower eyelid surgery – transconjuctive laser blepharoplasty

During the lower eyelid surgery we remove fat deposits in the under-eye area using a laser, which also helps reduce loose skin in this area. The incision is made on the inside of the eyelid, ensuring that no visible scar remains after the procedure. Patients are operated on under anesthesia and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. The patient can go home two hours after the procedure. This method is characterized by a quick healing process. However, it is essential to select suitable candidates for this type of surgery. If a more significant reduction of skin overhang is desired, a traditional surgical approach may be more beneficial.

Suitable combinations with other procedures

  • Aptos thread lifting – minimally invasive tightening of the facial skin
  • Non-invasive laser skin rejuvenation and tightening
